There’s a quote by John Quincy Adams that says, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” And when it comes to being a leader, there’s one person I always think of – myself.
Yes, I am my own leader. A phenomenal leader in fact.
Now, before you roll your eyes or think I’m just being cocky, hear me out. We all have the ability to be leaders in our own right, and for me, that comes from within. It’s what I call your inner phenomenal leader that we all have inside of us that just needs to be awakened and unleashed.
Being a leader isn’t just about bossing people around or taking charge – it’s about recognizing your own potential and strengths and using them to make a positive impact. And I believe that starts with knowing and accepting yourself.
Getting to know yourself is a journey that is both exciting and at times intimidating. It’s about digging deep beneath the surface and uncovering all the complicated layers that make you who you are. At first, it can feel like shedding an old skin and learning to embrace the raw version of yourself that has been masked for too long. But as you open yourself up to new experiences and ways of thinking, you’ll begin to see all the magic within you! You’ll discover your strengths, passions, and quirks that make you one-of-a-kind. Getting to know yourself involves unlearning all the societal norms and expectations that we’ve been conditioned to follow and instead embracing the unique path that only you can walk, no matter how unconventional it may seem. It’s about reclaiming your voice, your identity, and your agency over your life.
Being a phenomenal leader isn’t just about the work – it’s also about the people. One of my favorite quotes is from Maya Angelou: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This rings true for me in both my personal and professional life. By treating others with kindness and respect, I can create a positive environment where everyone, myself and others, feels valued.
Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Okay, that all sounds great, but what can you actually accomplish as with your inner phenomenal leader?” Well, let me tell you.
When we tap into our inner phenomenal leader, we unleash a powerful force that can help us achieve incredible things. By being true to ourselves and staying authentic, we open ourselves up to endless possibilities and opportunities that we might otherwise overlook. Our inner leader gives us the courage to take risks, make bold decisions, and go after our dreams with passion and determination. When we embrace this part of ourselves, we become more confident, resilient, and intuitive, which makes us better equipped to navigate life’s challenges and seize its many opportunities. In addition to realizing and being my true, authentic self, I’ve also set some incredible goals for myself and have achieved them – from graduating college with honors to starting my own successful business.
I’ve also helped others achieve their goals, whether it’s through coaching, mentoring or volunteering my time and resources.
But beyond the tangible achievements, I’ve also created a a strong, healthy, positive mindset for myself. It allows me to approach everyday with a childlike happiness and wonder, approach challenges with a can-do attitude and have an eager willingness to learn.
I surround myself with supportive and inspiring people who push me to be my best self, to continually strive to fulfill my potential and contribute to this world in my own unique way.
And most importantly, I constantly believe in myself and my abilities.
So, why am I telling you all of this? Because I truly believe that each and every one of us has the potential to realize and unleash our own phenomenal leader. It’s not about being perfect or having all the answers – it’s about recognizing your true self, your potential and strengths and using them to make a positive impact.
So, whether you’re leading a team at work or just trying to navigate your own life, remember that you have the power within you – your own inner phenomenal leader. Take ownership of your life.
